Thank goodness for Box Office Mojo! Here are the estimated earnings made by major motion pictures at movie theaters for the weekend of October 14 through the 16th, 2005. The top movie in the nation is The Fog, staring Smallville‘s Tom Welling, and Maggie Grace from Lost. Stop-motion cartoon Wallace and Gromit came in a very close second place. Elizabethtown, starring Orlando Bloom and Kirsten Dunst as two strangers, um… stalking each other? opened in third place. It opened in a few hundred fewer theaters than The Fog, but did better on average per theater. ($4,370, versus $4,104)
